f.a.q. What year is this set in? Venatio Venefici is set in the year 2022, which is five years after the epilogue, placing James Potter in seventh year and Albus Potter in sixth year. What does "Venatio Venefici" and "Fortuna audaces iuvat" mean? Venatio Venefici means "the Chase of the Wizards" and Fortuna audaces iuvat means "Fortune favors the bold" in latin. What is the difference between How does real time work? Real time works as one day of "real life / out-of-character time" equals one day of "fictional / in-character time". For example, November 1, 2008 equals November 1, 2022. Is there an instant-messenger of choice? No, although most of our current members enjoy GT (Google Talk). But if you don't find anyone online, feel free to use email or post messages to them through the OOC or their journals. The mods are easily reachable through email or the comment box. What if my character isn't chosen as their school's champion? Or what if my character doesn't even want to enter the competition? As we mentioned in the Premise, the tournament is mainly a backdrop, and a way to introduce a different element into the lives of the Hogwarts students; i.e. bring new students with different beliefs and different cultures for them to interact with. We will still have smaller plots that the characters can play with, potion mishaps, spell backfires, a small conspiracy or two, and more. I want to join but I'm having difficulty creating an original character. Do you have suggestions? We've created premades to help spark that creative energy. True, premades are generally stereotypes, but we'd like to see you expand on them, add to them, explain them, and write something unexpected. Will the tasks be the same as in Goblet of Fire? Not exactly. We will probably have a maze -as it is quite standard in competitions dating back to the Ancient Greek civilization and their labyrinths, and isn't just inclusive to Harry Potter- but we're trying to stay away from dragons. We imagine since this is the "next generation" of witches and wizards, those that aren't muggleborn have already been told the story by their parents of how Hogwarts had the first ever two champions (as well as how it was a screen for the second rising of Voldemort). Why have clubs when there are classes of the same name? Clubs are for students who love the subject despite their academic scores, and also bring together students of various years. Students cannot take the classes in which they fail, but they can always join the clubs! Even if it's for other reasons. When will the game start? The game is slated to start July 1, but if we get enough players / characters and response, we may start it earlier so the characters can get their feet wet in the last few days of "summer" before school starts. My question wasn't asked here... Feel free to comment here with any questions or concerns you may have. We will answer them as soon as possible. |
